Hi Tapan,

Great question! I get a permit for the group from the City of Mississauga to stay in the park past the 11:00pm closing time. The City has asked me to let them know when we are out observing so they can keep an eye on us, although I don't think I have ever had someone from the City drop in on us, although the Peel Regional Police regularly drop in and have been very supportive of us.

My question is all parks close at 11.00 pm in the night. How do you guys manage to stay in a park long enough. I bought a 8" SCT on a cgem mount and i am anxious to stay up all night.

Keith,

Welcome to the group. We are an observing group and meet according to "members" interest. If people are interested in going out, they let me know and I send out an email inviting the universe;) If you want to be on the email distribution list, send me an email at [email protected]

Learning the sky is an on-going process for me. There are some great apps available for smartphones and tablets, as well as hard copy sky atlases. I would borrow the atlases from the library and see what other people have before you buy anything.

Any questions, let me know.

Clear skies,

Paul

I am new to the hobby and I am interested in astrophotography. My first step is learning the sky and how to get around with my scope and mount and would love some pointers. Do you have regular meetings?

Hi Jo-Anne,

Venus, Saturn and Mercery should be visible in the morning sky, if this fog dissipates. Jupiter is out in the evening. Sounds like we are going to miss the morning and possibly evening skies for a few days.

Clear skies,

Paul

Hi Paul. Foggy weather at night/early morning isn't helping matters! ;)
